I am honored and delighted to welcome you on behalf of the Organizing Committee, to the 9th International Conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-regional Countries (9th ICPH-GMS, 2017), to be held on 22nd and 23rd November 2017 in Yangon, Myanmar.

This year conference is organized by University of Public Health, Yangon (UPH) and supported by HelpAge International Myanmar.

The theme of the 9th ICPH-GMS (2017), Yangon is “Adopting Healthy Lifestyle: Combating Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs)”. NCDs are the leading causes of death in the GMS countries at present and they create enormous health burden with serious socioeconomic implications. As a result of huge burden of NCD morbidity and mortality, addressing NCDs is recognized as a top public health priority and many initiatives are being introduced for prevention and control of NCDs in all GMS sub-region countries. The 9th ICPH-GMS will provide a good platform for public academicians, researchers, practitioners and program managers for sharing knowledge and experience, finding solutions and introducing new sound initiatives to address NCDs. Professional networking from the conference would also play a vital role in enabling strategic alliances to address NCDs in GMS Region and beyond.

The conference aims to promote sharing, discussion, coordination, collaboration and networking among public health institutions from countries within GMS region in research, teaching, policy analysis and programmatic interventions on prevention and control of NCDs.

The conference is expected to result in enhanced understanding, professional networking and collaboration on promoting healthy life style and addressing NCDs among public health institutions from countries within Greater Mekong Sub-region through research, teaching, policy analysis and programmatic interventions. The 9th ICPH GMS conference will provide a wonderful program consisting of keynote addresses, panel discussions, oral and poster presentations and exhibitions.

Moreover, you will love to visit Yangon, historical and economic city of Myanmar, and will enjoy the culture, traditional foods, handicrafts and hospitality of Myanmar people.
